DD&A provides environmental services and permitting support for the Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project. The project proposes pipelines and water facilities within unincorporated areas of Monterey County and in the cities of Castroville, Marina, and Seaside. The project consists of several distinct physical components, including a seawater intake system, a desalination plant, and attached or auxiliary facilities, conveyance pipelines, and an expanded aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) system.

DD&A works closely with CalAm and their consultant to develop a program to document compliance with the various mitigation measures and conditions of approval applicable to the project. As part of this task, DD&A is responsible for reviewing existing permitting documentation; coordinating with the applicable regulatory agencies; reviewing application material for internal consistency, accuracy, and completeness; and preparing necessary technical documentation.

DD&A is currently providing on-going oversight of critical milestones related to environmental compliance to ensure the project proceeds on schedule and all conditions/mitigation measures are completed in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. DD&A is responsible for coordinating the environmental compliance process for each of the individual project components with the California Public Utilities Commission. Additionally, DD&A’s Natural Resources Division is providing ongoing pre-construction biological survey and construction-phase monitoring services for each of the individual project components.
