Immediate Opening: Environmental Scientist

Denise Duffy & Associates (DD&A, Inc.) is seeking to hire an Environmental Scientist for our office in Monterey, California. DD&A, Inc. welcomes responses from all qualified applicants with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience. The range of duties for this position include:  technical writing and reporting, environmental and biological studies, field surveys and assessments, regulatory permitting and approvals, construction monitoring, and restoration monitoring and implementation.  Other duties may include preparing maps and graphics in support of biological and environmental documentation, assisting managers with project scoping, and performing general office duties as necessary.

This is a full-time, salaried opportunity.  Compensation is DOQ and very competitive, including benefits.  A background check is required for this position.

Position Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science/Studies, Natural Resource Management, Biology, Botany, Ecology (MS/MA degree preferred)

  • Preferred candidates will have 1 to 3 years performing at a level equivalent to that of an Assistant Environmental Scientist

  • Outstanding technical writing and editing skills (will be required to provide writing samples and complete an assessment of writing/editing ability)

  • Knowledge of the flora and fauna of California

  • Experience with consultation and coordination with federal and state agencies, including endangered species consultation and wetland regulatory permitting

  • Understanding of GIS mapping and analysis in the context of biological resources studies, ability to perform mapping and analysis

  • Strong analytical abilities and communication

  • Detail oriented, motivated and a self-starter

  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite (including: Word, Excel, and Project) and ArcGIS
